God Loves You!

There is nothing you could ever do to make God love you more!

And there is nothing you could ever do to make God love you less!

God’s love is unconditional. There’s absolutely nothing you can do to change that fact. God loves you.

Period. End of story.

The Bible says, “God loved the people of the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never die” (John 3:16, Contemporary English Version). God loves you so much that He sent His only Son to die a most horrific death, so that your sins could be forgiven. Jesus, knowing the pain and anguish that awaited Him, willingly died on the cross so that you might have everlasting life. That is love with a capital “L.” God loves you in ways that you might never fully understand. But it’s not necessary to understand. Just accept it. Wouldn’t it be best to get rid of doubt and start believing?

We’ve all done things that we’re not proud of. Maybe you broke some law of society, and now you’re paying the price for it. Perhaps you continue to struggle with the bonds of addiction, and you’re in pain because you know that you’re hurting not only yourself, but also people who love you. Or maybe you’ve fallen into the trap of vengeance, wishing terrible things upon someone who has hurt you.

I want to tell you some awesome news, and it applies to all of us who have to deal with our glaring imperfections: If we simply confess our wrongdoings, God takes our sins and buries them in the deepest ocean. Then He forgets all about them. That’s how much He loves you. No matter what you’ve done, God doesn’t even remember! Maybe you need to learn to forgive yourself, too.

The Bible says it best: “How great is God’s love for all who fear him? Greater than the distance between heaven and earth” (Psalm 103:11, Contemporary English Version).

God’s love will always be unconditional – you can’t add to it or subtract from it – but you have to take certain steps to enable that love to work its wonders in your life. First, you have to believe that God exists. Then you have to go one step further: reach out with faith and accept His love. If you don’t, the net result is that you will wall Him out of your life. To experience God’s love, all you need to do is accept the fact that Jesus came to earth to die for your sins. Turning your back on your old ways, and accepting Jesus as your personal Savior, will literally open the flood gates of God’s love.

If you can fully comprehend how deeply you are loved by God, you will never feel alone again.

My Action Step

Give yourself in faith to the God who says that there’s nothing you can do that could ever make God love you more or less than He already does. Accept that unconditional love and,in gratitude, offer your life to the Lord. Maybe you don’t see yourself as a particularly religious person. That’s OK – just give as much of yourself as you can, right now, to the Lord.

God’s Encouraging Word

“God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.” – Romans 5:8, Contemporary English Version

“Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17, Contemporary English Version

A Suggested Prayer

I encourage you to pray this simple prayer of invitation. If you truly mean it, God will forgive you. He will cleanse you from all your guilt and give you a new life: “Jesus, I admit that I am a very imperfect person. I have sinned against you and against others, and I am truly sorry. I want to have a new beginning with you, a clean slate! Come into my life, Jesus, and make my heart your home. Take over my mind, my thoughts, my desires, my body and my emotions. Help me to live as a new person. I know that I will never be perfect, but now I understand that I am perfectly loved and totally forgiven. And so I can finally find freedom and hope because of your perfect love. In your holy name, Amen.”
